Waiting to Lead

Have you ever thought about why some people seem to have the all the opportunities to lead and there you sit, “waiting.” Waiting for your turn, your role, the right job, or opportunity and yet it just never seems to come? What if I told you that if you are feeling this right now, your time is coming! Would you believe this? You should, but first you to need to recognize that our immediate timing that we desire is not always God’s timing, in fact rarely is. Why? We walk through certain trials and tests to be refined, to learn from the experiences and grow into an amazing person used by God. I read the following in my devotional today: “God prepares leaders in a Crock-Pot, not a microwave. More important than the awaited goal is the work God does in us while we wait. Waiting deepens and matures us, levels our perspective, and broadens our understanding. Tests of time determine whether we can endure seasons of seemingly unfruitful preparation and indicate whether we can recognize and seize the opportunities that come our way.”

Something to think about: Noah waited 120 years before the predicted rains arrived. Job waited perhaps a lifetime, 60-70 years, for God’s justice. I think you and I can wait a little longer as God does something to prepare us.

Take a deep breath, see that you just might be in that “Crock-Pot” and you are being slowly brought to a temperature where you will be ready to lead, be patient – He has this and you!

Thanks for stopping by the fire,

Pastor Dennis
