Why “fire side therapy?”
Ever since I was a child I always found staring into a fire had deep meaning for me. I found mystery, adventure, peace and more by staring into the flames. Sometimes I was off on an adventure traveling though the deep forest and other times I could be sitting there in deep peaceful thoughts unaware of my surroundings or distractions.
Most recently I found myself on a sabbatical in the Shawnee National Forest near Herod, Illinois. I had a very a simple cabin with an abundant supply of firewood. Needless to say, there was a fire burning every day / night and I was able to lose myself in thought and prayer by this fire.
It’s amazing what a little “fire therapy” can do for a person’s soul. God knew that I needed this trip and He also knew that I needed time by the fire. The warmth and radiance of the flames into the evenings was just what I needed at the end of every day. I had plenty of time to reflect on my issues, life’s issues and so much more.
This blog contains a little bit of everything. Marriage advice, weight loss journey (which I am currently on), leadership thoughts, life thoughts, ramblings and more. Please take your time reading and I hope that you will find some time for your very own “FST.”
